Gypsy patchwork vests for the little people

          Gypsy leather patchwork vests

What to wear over all those pretty Lace dresses and sheer layers when the weather is in that delicious stage of long sunny days and cool nights?

That is always a dilemma for me

I love soft cotton and cashmere cardigans and as another layer I love to throw on a leather and suede vest

I have a few of them now of mixed colours and textures, and I've been making up some new ones for my kids with some great off cuts I found at NSW leather in Waterloo, sydney

Layering dyed shearling with soft leather or suede and then over embellishing with a variety of studs, leather hand cut feathers, interesting beads and shells,
the occasional doily gets attached too!!

They make for a great little funky addition to layer year round with all your basics

The blue/black is a tougher boys edition,at first I thought only my girls would be keen but I was wrong!!
The boys want one too!

This very colourful vest also features bamboo crochet as a finish on the sides and neckline, something I'm starting to do a lot more of
These are the kids editions but I'm working on a group of adult versions now as well as a similar patchwork /embellished style of hip belt
All will be revealed ASAP,
I feel like I'm starting to get a range of my things together that really forms a story of what my style is,and that means a smile is dancing on my face when I look into my little studio at the end of a creating session!

An inspirational image to leave you with,I'd love to be able to grow rainbow dandelions!!

Watercolour heaven

My new favourite artist in the world,
Conrad Roset from Spain
The way he mixes watercolour and fine ink is beyond my wildest dreams and his use of colour to show emotion is breath taking
Do you have an artist that moves you in this way?if so I'd love to hear about them.

A magical day at Avalon fete

Avalon school fete  comes around every 2 years, early in springtime when the sunshine is starting to emerge from its wintery resting place
I am instantly transformed back to my childhood when I walk through those school gates,
into a magical world of sticky toffees, glittery face paint, chocolate wheels and the smell of baby farm animals in the petting zoo

This years fete didn't dissapoint me in anyway, as those childhood memories often do,never quite living up to your magical youth
Well not today!!

I began my day doing time on the haunted house stall selling scary eyeball  and sour worm jellies to frightened little children
(I had to give a few away,as some of the little ones were truly petrified by year 6 efforts to truly scare them!!!)

Nevada made new friends with a resident green alien man that kept me company on the stall(he didn't scare her at all!!)

When my time was done we moved onto some pleasurable stalls, rainbow face painting, tie dyeing t shirts and crazy pet rock making..

However the highlight of my day was seeing my little ones enjoying the baby animals and pony rides,we spent most of the afternoon here

Nevada sat with this baby chicken for well over an hour, singing it little songs 🎵 too sweet!!

I had the best day with my munchkins at the school fete,
A truly magical day🌈

Doily dress for spring

Nevada moon and I had a lovely afternoon trying on new samples and finishing off new doily dresses for spring,

I couldn't resist giving her this one for keeps as she looked like a little candy coloured fairy, and it seemed to match her silky blonde curls

I love watching her discovering herself in the mirror and dancing in her dress, wasn't as keen on the banana she insisted on eating as I took photos,
I think I will have to teach her to be more of a lady!!!

I love how the sun shining through the doilies make pretty shadows on the ground

Nevada's dress is made of multiple lace doilies, hand dyed and then pieced together to make a dress and the yoke is an old embroidered napkin with hand embroidered roses..so pretty

I was in a bit of a hippy mood myself,
and wore a colourful layered combination of silky harem pants and a layered soft ruffled singlet with a beloved floral cardigan over the top
And my favourite rainbow leopard slippers of course!
